(1) Any document to be filed with the Registrar may be send thtough the post or in such electronic form and by such electronic means as authorized by the Registrat for electronic services. Any such document so sent shall not be deemed to has been duly sent until it is received by the Registrar.
(2) Any document to be served on any person other than the Registrar may be sent by registered post. Any document so sent shall be deemed to have been delivered in the ordinary course of post, and in proving such service or sending it shall be sufficient to prove that such document was properly addressed and put into the post and registered.

書類の送付
(1) 登記官に提出すべき書類は、郵便により送付するか、登記官が認めた電子形式及び電子的手段により送付することができる。かかる方法で送付された書類は、登記官が受領した時点で、正式に送付されたものとみなす。
(2) 登記官以外の者に送達すべき書類は、書留郵便により送付することができる。この方法で送付された書類は、通常の郵便により配達されたものとみなされ、当該書類に正しく宛名記載され、郵便に差し出され、かつ書留にされたことを証明すれば足りる。

日本では、特許庁に提出する書類（願書や提出期間が定められている書面）を「郵便」で送付した場合、通常、「発信主義」が採用されていますが、海外では「到達主義」が採用されている国もあります。なお、日本でも、裁判所に提出する書類は「到達主義」となっています。また、郵便局から送る場合でも、「ゆうパック」や「EXPACK500」は郵便物とは扱われず、「宅配便」や「メール便」は対象外ですので、「到達日」が提出日となる点、注意が必要です。
