Where a tradmark contains or consists of a word which is not in Roman characters, or the national language or English language, the applicant shall, unless the Registrar otherwise directs, upon filing the application for registration fo the trademark, furnish the Registrar with the following information:
a) a translation of the word in the national language or English language;
b) a transliteration of the word, if the case requires; and
c) the language to which the word belongs.

□ Registrar：登録官（日本で言う「審査官」）
□ furnish A with B：AにBを提供する
□ transliteration：音訳
商標の構成中に、非英語文字を一部又は全部に含む場合
商標が、ローマ字、公用語又は英語以外の文字を含む、或いは、それらにより構成される場合、出願人は、登録官から別段の指示がない限り、当該商標の登録出願に際し、登録官に対し、以下の情報を提出しなければならない：
a) 当該文字について、公用語または英語の翻訳；
b) 必要に応じて、当該文字の音訳；および
c) 当該文字が属する言語。

日本では、商標構成中の非日本語/非英語の文字部分について、翻訳を提出が求められることはありませんが、外国では、日本語（漢字、カタカナ文字、平仮名文字）の文字部分について、翻訳(translation)や音訳(transliteration)の提出を求められることが多くなっています。
